‘Fireman’ by Jake Aldridge

Rap artist Jake Aldridge has collaborated with Lisa Ambrose to form the catchy new single, ‘Fireman’.

With Lisa’s delicate pop vocals forming the infectious, yet gentle chorus, and Jake’s well-crafted rap styling forming the verses, a unique combination is created through their juxtaposition and it certainly sounds good.

Jake wasn’t always drawn to music though. It took the unfortunate passing of his Father when Jake was just 11 years old for him to turn to writing. He quickly found that he had an affinity for penning lyrics and his confidence began to shine through this medium. Music suddenly became an outlet for Jake to express his emotions.

Lisa Ambrose was the recent winner of battle of the bandstands, hosted by Radio 1’s Rob Da Bank and this led to her supporting Mark Ronson and eventually meeting Jake.

Jake has some classic hip-hop/rap inspirations for his music including Dr. Dre and Tupac and his off-the-cuff style of rapping pays homage to these icons of the genre.

KADI Sends Out A Message With ‘Turn U On’

Listen up R&B/ hip-hop lovers as KADI’s latest tune, ‘Turn U On’ is one you should be chasing and it even has a powerful message behind, straying from some of the typical representations of women in the genre.

KADI has always felt that the industry portrays the wrong idea, suggesting that women can only get far if they are prepared to sexual in terms of their image. Concerned for the younger generation of girls listening to this kind of music, KADI is keen to help them realise that this is not the case; that women can succeed without ‘having a big ass or showing your breasts’.

‘Turn U On’ combines clever and witty lyricism with a strong agenda that aims to empower women and move away from conventional images in hip-hop. KADI is aggressive and confident in her rapping style, but this only supports the message she is trying to put across, and she does this effortlessly, never deviating from the aura of cool that surround her.

With some quality production values and an equally professional video, KADI is without a doubt on the way up with her brand of meaningful hip-hop-rap.

Pimlican: ‘Runaw’y’

Solo artist, Pimlican, has teamed up with a group of talented musicians to create his catchy new single, ‘Runaw’y’. The experienced musician blends a wide range of genres including R&B, dance and pop to form a unique, yet contemporary sound with urban influences.

His strong song writing skills see him mixing killer hooks with colourful beats, which have earned him airplay on Tom Robinson’s Radio 6 show, BBC Introducing and BBC Radio Leeds.

The inspiration for the name ‘Pimlican’ came from spending many blue moons in Pimlico waiting for appointments with people involved in the music industry. The idea of the collective is to deliver unique live performances which are exemplified in the video for ‘Runaw’y’; therefore, anyone can get involved in Pimlican as long as they help evolve the live show and add something new to the group, never sticking to a completely rigid format.  After releasing the single ‘B’ck 4 More/P’lya’ in late May, Pimlican are set to release the addictive dance pop track ‘Runaw’y’, using rap to compliment the strong vocals and foot-tapping groove.

The Time Has Come for Zero Dinero – South West producer / rapper releases electrifying new EP!

Influenced by the golden era of hip hop, UK producer / rapper Zero Dinero comes through with this electrifying new EP The Time Has Come demonstrating some energetic flows, tight rhymes and some very impressive instrumentals.

Guest appearances include Kool Keith (aka Dr Octagon) and Blackalicous’s Gift of Gab, as well as famous scratch DJ, Sir BEANS OBE. The artwork and video meanwhile comes courtesy of Graham Dews (aka PARIS), the artist behind Coldplay’s Mylo Xyloto cover. An impressive coup for this Swindon debutant.

Please listen to the track ‘Be and Make’ from the EP below:

https://soundcloud.com/nil-cash/be-and-make/s-EPgdg

A multi-talented musician, Zero Dinero (who’s given name is Nilkesh Mehta) handles all his own production. As well as rapping alongside hip hop legends he also plays guitar, sitar, tablas (Indian percussion), harmonium (Indian Keyboard), and has experience as a hip-hop/ funk/ reggae DJ starting out aged only 14.

Embracing his Indian roots, Zero weaves elements of Eastern philosophy into his lyricism. Some of the themes include meditation, Yoga and reading philosophy – which are uniquely presented for the first time in a Hip hop context.

The rapper’s life has been one of many challenges. Between 1999 and 2000 he travelled the world teaching English to UNICEF kids and learning Spanish fluently, something that has helped him to have such a clear outlook on life. Following a degree in International relations and Law he found himself in a corporate environment, which never sat well with him. He also recently had a serious health scare battling early Testicular Cancer.

Having overcome all this, Zero Dinero is now ready to fully pursue his true calling and has devoted himself to the career in hip hop that he always wanted. Due to his Indian background, his parents thought he should keep music strictly as a ‘hobby’ when he was younger, rather than pursue it as a ‘profession’. The Time Has Come sees him finally overcoming obstacles and following his passions.

With such endorsements from Hip hop royalty; Zero Dinero’s unique eastern influenced debut release will truly add a new dimension to both the UK and global Hip Hop scenes.

The Time Has Come is out May 21st

Prince William has his sights on the hip hop throne with new single ‘Million Ways’

Having performed at last year’s SXSW festival, Houston rapper Prince William is an exciting new hip hop underdog on the rise.

His latest single ‘Million Ways’ sees him showing off his adept flow and wordplay skills. It centres lyrically around pushing one’s talents in order to be successful.

Stream the single here on Soundcloud:

https://soundcloud.com/glavish/million-ways

Written over a year ago, the rapper explains the inspiration behind it: ‘I was working the graveyard shift at a gas station one night (Winter ’14) and decided to play the instrumental on the loud speaker since I was the only one there. I must’ve played the instrumental 100 times that night and then as I was mopping the floor, the flow and the hook just naturally hit me and I recorded it on my next off day.’

Prince William’s inspiring self-confidence and rhymes are likely to appeal to fans of artists like Jay-Z, Childish Gambino and J Cole.

A highly self-motivated artist, Prince William has started a music career through his own determination and grit, setting up his very own record label Lavish Living Ent.

He explains the source of his drive: ‘When I decided to start making music, I called lots of old friends from Elementary all the way to High school and they all (exaggerated with “all” but pretty damn close) dismissed me and that helped me develop my “self-inspiring” attitude and I also learned to depend on myself much more than the average person.’

Prince William has always seen himself as an underdog. Upon entering a contest for indie rappers in 2013 led by local hip hop legend OG Ron C, the rap icon came up on stage and said “I don’t wanna hear music about your problems, if I wanted to hear about problems I would’ve stayed home and looked at bills. This is not the rap game, I want to see girls shake their asses and music I can dance to.”

Knowing from the start that he was different to the other rappers in the competition and that this statement was subliminally aimed at him, Prince William didn’t let it get in the way of his vision, having since proved OG wrong by performing at SXSW and scoring radio airplay from Kiss FM phoenix and an interview with KTSU Houston.

He hopes to continue onwards and upwards continuing to push his own record label and garner a worldwide fanbase.
