‘The Wayfarer’ by Glenn Harrold

You may well recognise the name Glenn Harrold from somewhere and it is likely because as well as a being a talented musician and songwriter, he is also a multi-million selling self help author and hypnotherapist.

However, Glenn has recently taken a diversion from hypnotherapy to focus on releasing music. Much of his work draws on subjects he covers everyday as a self-help guru, including human consciousness, spirituality, peace and love.

Consequently, what Glenn already knows has provided him with the ideal platform for launching his foray into the music industry. For ‘The Wayfarer’, a song inspired by the story of the Peace Pilgrim, Glenn has employed the vocal talents of Dean Rhymes who adds a beautiful sense of emotion to the track. The Peace Pilgrim, otherwise known as Mildred Lisette Norman, was an inspirational figure who spent much of her life trekking across America in pursuit of just one thing: peace.

Glenn’s hypnosis and meditation downloads and Apps have sold over 7 million copies worldwide and are perennial best sellers on Amazon, iTunes, the App Store and Google Play. Glenn has also written 7 books, which have been published by major publishers Orion in the UK and Europe and McGraw Hill in the US. Also, Glenn’s hypnotherapy career has led to him appearing on Steve Wright’s show, Breakfast TV and Five live.

Carina Round releases mesmerizing album ‘Deranged to Divine’.

carina-round-deranged-to-divine-cd_dl-cover-finalBringing all of her material together, work spanning over fourteen years, with work taken off of her critically acclaimed albums: ‘The First Blood Mystery’, ‘The Disconnection’, ‘Slow Motion Addict’, ‘Tigermending’, as well as the EP ‘Things You Should Know’, Wolverhampton born Carina Round releases ‘Deranged to Divine’ a spell-binding album which shows her growth as an artist. Her lyricism is what most artists wish they could achieve and Carina does it effortlessly.

The album is also complimented with two previously unreleased tracks ‘Gunshot’ and ‘Want More’, both showcase Carina’s unique vocals to a high level. A standout track for me is ‘Backseat’, I was captured from the beginning of the song, with Carina’s perfect vocals, it’s almost enchanting.

View the video for ‘Backseat’ here:

The video features people from all walks of life miming the lyrics, and I have watched it numerous times, it’s beautifully made, with over 250,000 views other people must agree with me, A stand out lyric which really rung true to me was ‘Just a second and we’re gone, Just an imprint when we’re done, It should be forever, God told me.’ – this just showcases Carina’s beautiful writing skills.

Another stand out track is ‘You and Me’ it’s a little more upbeat than ‘Backseat’ the video is also beautiful with people recording messages to loved ones and showcasing them in the video, along with animations.

‘You and Me’ is dedicated to the memory of Jean Round, it’s a lovely song, combined with the video actually made me feel a little emotional.

Carina Round proves over and over again that she has the power to touch your soul through her music.

Haunting new album Cherry Fair from singer-songwriter Stephen Harrison

‘…like postcards from an earlier, purer, more positive time’ – The Sunday Herald on Stephen’s previous album Today Tomorrow

English-born, Scottish-residing singer-songwriter Stephen Harrison delivers this intimate and heartfelt new folk record Cherry Fair.

Having written his own songs since he was a teenager, Stephen got into music through legendary sixties acts such as The Doors, Simon and Garfunkel, Donovan, Cat Stevens, Bob Dylan and George Harrison – the music that his older siblings would listen to.

As a teenager I was writing folk songs on acoustic guitar. Aged 16, I would strap my guitar on my back and head off ‘on my moped’ to places such as the Barnoldswick Folk Club.

During the late seventies, Stephen’s musical interests shifted. Attending the Edinburgh College Of Art in 1977, he was founding member of the post-punk band Metropak. The band supported the likes of The Rezillos and Josef K, and received airplay from John Peel.

Having since disbanded, Stephen has now returned to his folk roots. His new album draws on his experience, exploring an array of pensive topics from unrequited love to reconciliation to the brevity of life.  The subject matter deepens as the tracks progress.

Although minimal in sound, Cherry Fair is the result of a lot careful time and effort, Stephen going to great lengths to achieve the perfect sound using unconventional guitar tunings and a particular picking style. Vocals are often recorded multiple times so that he can achieve the exact phrasing. The result is a very clean and polished record.

As well as having a passion in music, Stephen is also a keen painter. Emotional tone plays a key part in his interest in the arts.

Artists that Stephen can be compared to include the likes of Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Nick Drake, early Lou Reed and Richard Hawley.

Cherry Fair is out 9th May

Singer-Songwriter Treat Due August 10th

Currently splitting time between their Northern Italian hometown of Padova and the UK’s capital, songwriters Vidal & Curma are a duo making a name for themselves on the London circuit. Playing in some of the most prestigious independent music venues in the city, their reputation has already won them a residency at the revered Proud Camden, where they were invited for repeat showings by popular demand thanks to the innate energy and sense of fun in their songs.

Their music boasts a loose, anarchic freshness without compromising on quality, giving an acoustic twist on the indie likes of The Libertines, The Strokes, Mac Demarco, and Velvet Underground to name a few. But perhaps their closest comparison is less well known – both Vidal and Curma are huge fans of Django Reinhardt, a gypsy guitarist  from Belgium who was active from the 30s to the 50s. Reinhardt single-handedly invented the gypsy-jazz genre, and both band members consider him the best guitarist of all time.

His brilliance has clearly rubbed off, and the new three track EP ‘Another Plane’ is a real, offbeat, acoustic treat.

Catch Vidal & Curma here:

Specialising in writing songs about everyday problems faced by many, song themes vary from the difficulty of maintaining relationships nowadays, where everyone travels and moves a lot (‘Another Plane’), to everyday situations that can lead to deep contemplation (‘Tonight’). The final track, ‘Never Say Again’, is about the unpredictability of meeting someone special in a massive city like London.

With each track boasting different elements which make them special individually, the combination of all three tracks makes for a very consistent release. And it’s all tied together with an acoustic irreverence that really sets them apart from other, more pretentious, peers. It’s an approach that clearly works, with the band already getting the attention of Universal Music Group A&R Manager Fausto Donato. A sign of things to come.

This is the first release on Tradiio Recordings, a new record label set up to release the best performing artists on Tradiio, a music discovery app for iOS, Android and Web.

Vidal & Curma’s ‘Another Plane’ EP is due for release on August 10th.

SINGER-SONGWRITER BOBBY LONG SETS WORLDWIDE RELEASE OF NEW ALBUM ‘ODE TO THINKING’ OUT 7TH AUGUST 2015

British singer-songwriter-guitarist Bobby Long, who is known for his powerfully evocative lyrics set to haunting melodies, has signed an agreement with Compass Records for the release of his new album, ODE TO THINKING.

Recorded last Autumn in Austin, TX, ODE TO THINKING is a taut collection of 11 original songs, produced by veteran producer Mark Hallman at his Congress House Studios. Long, who emerged from London’s burgeoning folk music renaissance, relocated to New York in 2009, cultivating a strong fan base for his music. He has previously released two well received albums, A WINTER TALE (2011) and WISHBONE (2013) as well as a five-song EP called THE BACKING SINGER (2011) and a volume of poetry, LOSING MY BROTHERHOOD (2012).

The release of ODE TO THINKING will be supported by his first ever full UK & European tour this October/November.  Bobby Long recently returned to our shores with a beautiful performance on the Acoustic Stage at the venerable Glastonbury Festival.

“This record started when I realized that the first five songs I wrote for it were probably the most personal songs I’d ever written,” Long says of the new recording. “That was the start of the journey.  ‘Ode to Thinking’ was one of the first songs I had written (for the album), and it was the definite turning point creatively where I felt, as I’m getting older, that I’m getting more interested in what’s going on politically and socially. I now think it’s really important to educate yourself and to take an interest in what’s going on in the world.”

Dave Fidler ready to unveil ‘Easy Gone, Easy Come’ EP

Easy Gone, Easy Come Final

With a live BBC Manchester session and a feature in national Acoustic Magazine already under his belt, Dave Fidler’s previous single ‘Taking Over’ has really started to make waves for the singer-songwriter. Easy Gone, Easy Come, is the title track from  the new EP which is set to retain Dave’s upward trajectory come June 1st.

Based in the North West, Dave Fidler is a supremely talented acoustic guitarist, whose folk style and intricate finger picking underneath a distinct vocal has the ability to warm and break your heart in equal measure. His songs spin tales we can all relate to, around themes of love, loss and birth – all themes shaped by Fidler’s own personal life over the last year or so.

The past twelve months for Dave have been a whirlwind of recording sessions and great shows including Glastonbury Festival, Manchester’s Whisky Sessions festival and a forty date tour of the UK as main tour support to John Bramwell who describes Fidler as “absolutely brilliant”. He has also been featured several times by key tastemaker Tom Robinson of BBC Radio 6 Music.

Music is clearly a true passion for the singer-songwriter, who also runs a music school and charity alongside touring. It’s all very impressive work, and with a barge tour of the UK in the works as well as a potential prisons tour at the end of the year, it’s clear to see that Dave is approaching things in a different way.

Influenced by greats like Bob Dylan and Paul Simon, this is an artist with incredible potential with songs like EP track ‘Easy Gone, Easy Come’, which you can find here:

If you’re still not convinced, we challenge you to watch his recent session for cult YouTube Channel ‘Ont’ Sofa’ without being supremely impressed:
